Milan Momcilovic made his first eight 3-point shots while scoring 27 points and No. 10 Iowa State prepped for its weekend visit to top-ranked Purdue by setting a program scoring record in a 132-68 rout of Alcorn State. The Cyclones broke the previous school record of 130 points in a 67-point win over The Citadel in 2016-17. The 64-point margin against Alcorn State was tied for their fifth-largest ever. Iowa State shot 70.8% from the field and 73.3% on 3s, the best marks in coach T.J. Otzelberger’s five seasons. The team's 22 3-pointers were another program record.

Kansas State football coach Chris Klieman has announced his retirement after nearly 35 years in coaching and the last seven leading the Wildcats, a run that included the Big 12 championship three years ago and a bowl trip every season but one. The school is targeting Texas A&M offensive coordinator Collin Klein as Klieman's replacement, a person familiar with the plans told The Associated Press. Klein played quarterback for Hall of Fame coach Bill Snyder at Kansas State and later served on Klieman's first staff. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because such discussions were confidential.

Trey Kaufman-Renn had 19 points and 13 rebounds for his fourth double-double this season to lead top-ranked Purdue over Rutgers 81-65 in the Big Ten Conference opener for both teams. Braden Smith added 16 points and eight assists for the Boilermakers. Fletcher Loyer had 12 points and Gicarri Harris scored 11 off the bench. Purdue has reached 80 points in every game this season and is beating opponents by an average of 20. Dylan Grant and Harun Zrno each scored 13 points for Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights used 13 players and led for just 2:53 early in the first half.

Coen Carr had nine of his 15 points in the second half after Jeremy Fears Jr. scored 10 of his 14 points in the first half, helping No. 7 Michigan State remain unbeaten with a 71-52 win over Iowa on Tuesday night in a Big Ten opener. The  Spartans will play No. 4 Duke at home on Saturday. Michigan State is off to its best start in a decade and has three wins against AP Top 25 teams. The Hawkeyes were undefeated under first-year coach Ben McCollum until they ran into one of the hottest teams in college basketball.

Two gymnasts who say they were sexually abused at an elite academy in Iowa have filed lawsuits against the sport’s oversight bodies, alleging Sean Gardner preyed on girls despite repeated complaints about the coach's behavior. The lawsuits, filed Monday, allege USA Gymnastics and the U.S. Center for SafeSport were told about “inappropriate and abusive behaviors” as early as December 2017 when Gardner was a coach in Mississippi. The lawsuits allege the organizations failed to “properly investigate,” revoke Gardner’s coaching credentials, report him to law enforcement or take other actions to protect athletes. Gardner was able to get a coaching job at Chow’s Gymnastics and Dance Institute in West Des Moines, Iowa, in 2018, where his abuse allegedly continued for years.

Michigan has jumped to No. 3 in the AP Top 25 men’s basketball poll. Rival Michigan State and Iowa State have both climbed into the top 10. Purdue and Arizona remain at No. 1 and No. 2. Michigan's rise follows a dominating run through the Players Era Championship. The Wolverines have won four straight games by at least 20 points, including big wins over ranked teams like Gonzaga. Vanderbilt made the biggest jump, moving up seven spots. St. John's had the biggest drop, losing nine places. Kansas is back in the poll, while UCLA and North Carolina State have dropped out.

Rocco Becht passed for a touchdown, Abu Sama ran for a score and Iowa State defeated Oklahoma State 20-13 in the final regular-season game for both teams. Kyle Konrardy kicked field goals of 45 and 34 yards for Iowa State, which rushed for 231 yards. The Cyclones’ defense limited Oklahoma State’s offense to 219 yards and forced two turnovers. Zane Flores threw a touchdown pass and Logan Ward kicked two field goals for Oklahoma State, which has lost 18 of 19 games and 19 straight against conference opponents. The Cyclones reached eight wins for the fifth time under coach Matt Campbell and the 13th time in program history.
