Pritzker defends call for federal bailout despite budget surplus

(The Center Square) – Despite his budget proposal cutting spending from the previous record-high year by less than $2 billion and touting a $120 million expected surplus, Gov. J.B. Pritzker maintains that Illinois is still in need of the $7.5 billion contained in President Joe Biden’s COVID-19 relief plan.

Today's update from the LA Dept. of Health has the number of total cases for the State at 427,689 an increase of 779 cases since yesterday. These numbers list 2,864 cases for Vernon, 2,805 cases for Beauregard, 2,973 cases for Allen, 11,224 cases for Rapides, 19,181 cases for Calcasieu, 2,769 cases for Sabine, and 3,852 cases for Natchitoches Parish. The numbers show 9,561 deaths so far from COVID-19 in the State, with 96 from Vernon Parish, 65 from Beauregard Parish, and 85 from Allen Parish.

Louisiana COVID-19 cases total over 368K

BATON ROUGE, La. - The Louisiana Department of Health reported Thursday 779 new COVID-19 cases and 33 new deaths. Confirmed cases stand at 368,218 and 8,885 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020.
